“The Positive Paisley campaign aims to provide people who care about the town and have connections through business, work or home, with a focus through which to improve its public image.

Too many bad stories have been promoted over the years that have detracted from all the wonderful history, culture and opportunities offered by the town and the friendliness of the ‘buddies’.

Through a ongoing campaign of positive messaging using all the various media available to us – online and offline – we hope to gradually change perceptions and show a truer picture of this fine town and restore confidence and optimism to its communities, both business and resident.

Come and join us: all you’ve got to do is keep talking about the good things happening in the town – not the negatives!

You can download the Positive Paisley logo to add to your website, Facebook, Twitter accounts from this site and please use the #positivepaisley hashtag on your Tweets. There is also a Positive Paisley Linked In Group which you can join.

Erskine Motorbike Meet started a few years ago, about 5 or 6. Four bikers turned up at Erskine Hospital for a tour around the main home located in Bishopton. After the tour, they said they wanted to do something to help fundraise for Erskine.

So they decided on a bike meet. The first year, 30 bikers turned up, next year, 100, then 300. In 2010 1000 turned up and this was the year I got involved. For various reasons the four friends couldn’t continue with their part of the organising so I was roped in to help Erskine with the organising. 2010 was also the first year that the BBQ, live music and family entertainment were introduced and Arriva provided the shuttle bus that ran from Paisley Gilmour St. to Erskine Hospital, for the non-bikers.

Signature Strength

Are you aspirational for Paisley? Do you want it to be a better place to live and work?

Take a minute just now and brainstorm 5 good things about where you live now – things you have enjoyed recently.

For me it would be:

[checklist]

  • our back court (love the trees & bushes),
  • my neighbours, family & friends (can’t beat a blether)
  • the wee Italian restaurant I had lunch in yesterday (La Trattoria, yum!)
  • the Lagoon for swimming with the kids (can’t wait to see it when it’s refurbished) and finally…
  • Barshaw Park (great free entertainment & exercise… and great for people spotting!)
