The money will be given to a charity or community group based in one of the local areas, Renfrewshire, Glasgow, East and West Dunbartonshire, which currently fall under Glasgow Airport’s flightpath.

In order to be considered for the support, applicants must demonstrate positive outcomes in at least one of the three areas where the FlightPath Fund’s community investment is focused – education, employment and the environment.

This is the second year in a row the £25,000 support grant has been made available through Glasgow Airport’s FlightPath Fund. Last year, the Tannahill Centre in Ferguslie Park, Paisley, was awarded the five-figure sum to transform its popular community café.

The Fund’s chair, former KPMG Scotland head Archie Hunter, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for a charity or community group from one of the areas we operate in to secure what is a significant financial contribution that will help them make a real difference.

“Glasgow Airport’s FlightPath Fund continues to be a force for good in directly supporting a wide and diverse range of organisations across the west of Scotland.

“In addition to this lump sum, the Fund has awarded more than £100,000 so far this year to more than 50 local groups and charities doing wonderful work in their communities and often providing vital care and support to some of our most vulnerable citizens.

“Once again, I’d urge the many local groups and organisations in the areas we serve, including those which have previously received FlightPath Fund support, to grasp this opportunity and submit an application. The £25,000 on offer really could make huge difference to the people they support.”

The FlightPath Fund’s independent committee meets every two months to consider applications and includes elected representation from the local authorities for Renfrewshire, Glasgow, East and West Dunbartonshire.

If you are a charity or community group seeking funding and your project meets the following criteria please submit an application.

To be considered a project must:

  • Create a significant and sustainable benefit to the community
  • Yield positive outcomes in at least one of the following areas: education, employment and the environment
  • Benefit a significant number of people

Applications must:

  • Provide clear evidence that the project will fulfil a local need

  • Provide clear evidence of the financial viability of the project

The closing date for applications is Friday, October 26th. The Glasgow Airport FlightPath Fund’s committee will consider entries at the final meeting of the year on Friday, November 2, and announce details of the beneficiary group in due course.
