Since reopening, Paisley Town Hall has welcomed over 44,000 visitors who have attended an impressive lineup of internationally renowned performers, from homegrown superstar Paolo Nutini’s unforgettable concert to acclaimed club night Bicep supported by Optimo, and stand-up shows from comedians Frankie Boyle and John Bishop. The venue has also become a prestigious setting for classical and cultural performances, including those by Scottish Opera, and hosted the esteemed Royal National Mod last year. Additionally, the 2024 Paisley Book Festival returned to its natural home adding to the diverse annual programme.
Visitors to Paisley Town Hall will experience a unique blend of culture and stunning architecture. Visitors can explore the historic charm of the venue, now enhanced with state-of-the-art technology, with new additions including digital suite and dance studio.
The renewed Town Hall’s success is further highlighted by its role in delivering personal and professional events. In just one year, the venue has hosted bespoke weddings, over 230 industry conferences and meetings, and 167 shows. The restored building has not only captured the hearts of locals but has also garnered attention as an attractive destination for tourists and event-goers from across Scotland.
Councillor Lisa-Marie Hughes, Renfrewshire Council’s culture spokesperson and Chair of OneRen, expressed her excitement about the milestone, stating, “It’s wonderful to mark this first anniversary of the transformed Town Hall, and to highlight all the incredible events that have taken place in this stunning venue.
“Paisley Town Hall has truly become a cultural landmark, attracting talent and audiences alike to experience the best of what our town has to offer.”
Looking to the future, Paisley Town Hall promises to continue its success, with an exciting lineup of events planned to further strengthen its status as a premier destination for the arts in Scotland. The renovation of Paisley Town Hall is part of a generational investment by Renfrewshire Council in Paisley’s cultural venues, including the transformation of Paisley Museum into a world-class visitor destination, developing Paisley Arts Centre into one of the foremost small arts venues in Scotland, the creation of the award-winning Paisley Learning and Cultural Hub on the High Street, and restoring heritage buildings across the town centre.
The Council’s ongoing capital investment also includes transformational funding in the school learning estate, focused regeneration across eight housing areas, and targeted investment in outdoor sports – with a new world-class running track and hockey pitch at On-X Linwood, brand-new tennis courts in three Renfrewshire parks, upgrades to Ferguslie Sports Centre, and a new pavilion and football pitches at St James Playing Fields.
