October 27, 2024The Hazlitt Apartments – Paisley
October 27, 2024A cherished Paisley landmark on Causeyside Street is embarking on an exciting journey, transformed into the luxurious Hazlitt Apartments. Originally built in the early 20th century, this iconic building now offers stylish, self-catering
apartments designed to provide modern comfort while preserving its historic charm. Guests can enjoy spacious rooms with premium furnishings and convenient access to Paisley’s bustling town centre. The Hazlitt Apartments are more than just a stay – they’re an experience, celebrating Paisley’s unique history and vibrant culture.
A new aparthotel has opened in a historic building in Paisley town centre.
The Hazlitt Apartments are based in a listed building on Causeyside Street dating from 1908.
Ian Henderson, The Hazlitt Apartments owner, said: “This project has been in the pipeline for over 10 years and we’re delighted to welcome guests to experience this fantastic aparthotel.
“The building is steeped in history and our location is perfect for both business travellers seeking proximity to the town, leisure guests, those visiting universities in the area, and tourists visiting Scotland’s largest town for its rich cultural offering.”
The stunning entrance hall also features original tiles from the building.
There is no food and beverage offering on site but all apartments have fully fitted and equipped kitchens, widescreen televisions, a dining area, sofa bed and a 6ft king-size bed.
For business guests, each apartment benefits from Wi-Fi throughout. Some apartments have desks and there is also a dishwasher, and a turndown and laundry service if required.
Prices for a room vary from £128 to £255 per night.
There is no minimum stay at The Hazlitt Apartments – but management insist they are ideal for long-term stays and are happy to discuss discounted terms for people calling in for more than one week.
At the turn of the 20th century, the Paisley based company J & P Coats was the third-largest company in the world after US Steel and Standard Oil and many fine buildings were built in the town around this time.
As a result, Paisley has the highest percentage of listed buildings per capita in the UK and many are open to the public, including Coats Memorial (now a thriving venue), Paisley Abbey and the refurbished Paisley Museum and observatory, due to open in 2025.
The recently-refurbished Paisley Town Hall and Paisley Arts Centre are also now open.
