Top authors book into Foxbar Library

Three top childrens’ authors are set to visit a Paisley library this month.

Simon Puttock, Margaret Ryan and Lynne Rickards will all pop into Foxbar Library to read from their books and talk about what inspires them.

Simon Puttock, author of Mademoiselle Gorilla will appear on Saturday 12 November between 10.30am and 11.30am.

Simon, who was born in New Zealand and now lives in Edinburgh, has written over 20 books for younger children including “Little Lost Cowboy” which was the winner of the 2006 Royal Mail Scottish Children’s Book Awards.  His books are well known as being funny and engaging, and loved by children.

Paisley.org.uk have booked a spot at the St. Mirins Cathedral Car Boot Sale taking place on Saturday 19th November from 9am till 12 noon

We will have various items on sale including books and bric-a-brac but we still need more, so if you have any items that you no longer need or want please contact us or pop in to our offices at the YMCA, High Street, Paisley, PA1 2AF (map below). All proceeds will go to paisley.org.uk to help us promote the town in a positive way.

Liz Johnson visited St James’s primary School in Paisley today (November 7th 2011) to promote the BT London 2012 partnership which they are doing at roadshows, presentations, team meetings, recognition events, and development workshops, and also help youngsters see that they can achieve greatness through sport too no matter what challenges they face.

Liz Johnson won gold at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and is fully focussed to do the same in London 2012.

Liz who first began swimming at the age of three in the hope that it would help her cerebral palsy became part of the British Paralympic swimming team at the age of just 14-years-old. She went on to win three gold medals at the IPC World Championships and silver in her debut Paralympic Games in Athens in 2004.

Stacey set to switch on Paisley

Singing sensation and TV star Stacey Solomon is set to light up Paisley as the headline act at this year’s Christmas Lights Switch On event.

Stacey, who shot to fame on the X-Factor and finished third overall, will perform to thousands at the event in Paisley town centre on Saturday 5 November.
