October 8, 2025Renfrewshire gears up for another bumper season of fantastic festive events with an array of free, fun-filled activities for all.
Step into Christmas on Saturday 15 November with Paisley Christmas Lights Switch-on getting everyone in the festive spirit.

There will be plenty of Christmas family fun including arts and crafts workshops at The Art Department, magical light tunnels and a funfair. Visitors will also be able to enjoy exciting street entertainment, fantastic pop-up performances throughout the day from local acts and a selection of food and drink traders.
The main stage will have a jam-packed programme to keep everyone entertained including Johnstone Brass Band, Angela Duncan Sings, Artie’s Singing Kettle, The Swinging Santas and Feeva. Celtic rock band Red Hot Chilli Pipers will take to the stage before the town’s lights are switched on at 6pm.
The winter events keep on coming with festive events in Renfrew on Saturday, 22 November, Erskine on Friday 28 November, Johnstone on Saturday, 29 November, and Linwood on Friday 5 December.
Renfrew families can enjoy a day of festive treats and free entertainment in Renfrew town centre, including the popular Carol Concert in Renfrew Town Hall, a funfair and a Christmas market.
Led by Erskine Rotary Club, Erskine’s Christmas Lights will be switched on from in front of the town’s swimming pool, with an evening of festive fun planned, including performances from local musicians and school choirs.
Johnstone will have a jolly fun time in Houstoun Square as the twinkling town centre lights are switched on for Christmas alongside a host of free family entertainment, including a live stage programmed by Johnstone Sound.
Linwood will light up for the festive season with a free concert in Tweedie Hall. There’ll be plenty for everyone to enjoy with drop-in activities running throughout the evening including kids Christmas discos, festive storytelling and arts and crafts.
Renfrewshire Provost, Lorraine Cameron said: “I’m delighted to see Paisley’s Christmas Lights Switch On return to a Saturday event and this year’s programme is packed with plenty of festive, fun activities for everyone.
“This year the Council are also supporting Christmas events in Erskine and Linwood and I’m looking forward to helping the residents there celebrate the start of the festive season.
