November 8, 2024This week I’d like to do something different and start with the Thursday Introducing Nights at The Bungalow. These Thursday nights are where the bands of the future start out. Yep, one day you will say “I saw them at The Bungalow”. The attendance numbers just keep growing. On Thursday it looks like a packed-out venue for Kai Reesu. Kai Reesu is a freshly formed psychedelic jazz and hip-hop ensemble from Glasgow, and they are known for strong instrumentals with lush textures, complex polyrhythms and impressionistic melodies, along with hard hitting grooves and rap-based tracks. In support are psychedelic alt-rock band based in Paisley, Subtopian Planning Board and Laundry Room a fresh and funky fusion band based in Glasgow. Tickets on the door from 7pm.
Tom Hingley has been playing The Inspiral Carpets back catalogue with his very own ‘Karpets’ tribute band since 2016. Tom’s band has a new name ‘Tom Hingley plays Inspiral Carpets. The band has trod the boards at the Shine on Weekender at Minehead, supported Black Grape at four dates across the UK in December 2023 and performed at Club Supersonic (Paris), Stone Valley North and numerous other stages all over the nation.
Different name but the same exuberant mixture of energy, passion, heartbreak and aggression of the Inspiral Carpets years where classic Manchester singles such as This is How it Feels Saturn Five and Dragging Me Down are played at pull pelt with style, stealth, and great sense of humour. He sang on all Inspirals hit singles and four Mute Records released albums. Tom parted company with Inspirals in 2011 to pursue a solo career and they play on. This is a great opportunity to hear the big Inspiral singles, B sides and album tracks being played authentically and with conviction. Come and fall in love with the music all over again. Tickets on the door tonight from 7pm.
