Families enjoyed a festival of fun over the October holidays with thrilling Wee Spree events and activities across Renfrewshire.

Organised by Renfrewshire Council, the popular programme took place from 15 – 23 October during the mid-term break for schools.

There was entertainment for all ages with a bumper line-up of music, dance, theatre, film and more on offer.

Johnstone Town Hall was filled with costumes and party songs for Artie’s Singing Kettle Halloween Singalong before acclaimed drama Rocket Post and a Unicorn Dance Party packed with music and moves entertained family audiences.

There was film fun at the Tannahill Centre in Ferguslie, with screenings of popular family movies The Bad Guys, Lightyear, DC League of Super Pets, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and a singalong version of Encanto.

Award-winning inclusive dance company Indepen-dance presented a range of exciting events at Paisley’s Methodist Central Halls, including magical adventure Four Go Wild in Wellies and interactive Dance Your Socks Off and Tik Tok Moves classes.

Paisley’s The Bungalow venue hosted a free Stramash All-Dayer featuring a family ceilidh, musicians from Fèis Phàislig and the Ceilidh Trail, songs and storytelling from Live Music Now’s Traditional Tales for Tiny People and award-winning folksinger Iona Fyfe.

Audiences at Renfrew Town Hall were treated to a fun and lively Interactive Music Performance with violinist Roo Geddes and accordionist Neil Sutcliffe, presented by Live Music Now Scotland.

There were a host of workshops for children and teens to enjoy across the holidays, including Halloween-themed Spooktacular Animation, Puppet Patter & Monster Madness with Erskine Arts and Circus Taster sessions with Paisley Community Circus.

CREATE Paisley also provided an exciting programme of workshops for older years with Papermaking, an Urban Photo Walk, T-Shirt Design, Zine Making, Ceramics, Origami, Songwriting and Open Mic sessions.

Pauline Allan, Events Manager at Renfrewshire Council, said: “It was fantastic to see so many children and families enjoy the extended programme of theatre, film, dance performances, creative workshops and more at Renfrewshire venues over the school holidays.

“Hot on the heels of the Wee Spree is the Paisley Halloween Festival, which will see the town centre come alive with spooky installations and sensational live performances across three nights, from Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 October. We can’t wait to welcome everyone along.”
