Scotland’s largest airline easyJet has operated its biggest-ever flying programme to and from Scotland, with over 213,000 more seats compared to last year. The airline flew over 8.1 million customers in its 2025 financial year.
This comes as easyJet today reported 9% earnings growth in FY25 with a headline profit before tax £665 million.
The airline has also confirmed further growth at its Glasgow base, with a seventh A320 family aircraft set to join the fleet from next summer, enabling the airline to offer customers even more choice for flights and holidays across Europe and beyond.
The expansion will also support the local economy, with each UK-based aircraft supporting around 400 direct and indirect jobs and £27m UK gross value added (GVA).
The airline’s Scottish network continues to grow, having expanded by 11% over the last financial year with the addition of 15 new routes.
New routes for next summer to Malta, Pisa, Lisbon and Sharm El Sheikh from Glasgow were announced last week. With all new routes, easyJet holidays has launched package holidays inclusive of flights and hotel, as well as 23kg luggage and transfers for beach destinations.
This offers Scots an even greater choice of destinations for leisure, visiting friends and family, or conducting business, while also boosting connectivity from Europe to support Scotland’s vital visitor economy.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet UK Country Manager, said: “easyJet’s continued success in Scotland is a clear testament to the continued popularity of our flights and holidays, with over 8.1 million customers choosing us in our 2025 financial year for our trusted brand, unrivalled network and great value fares.
“The growth of our fleet with an additional aircraft in Glasgow next summer will not only support around 400 jobs but is enabling us to further unlock the opportunity of the demand that we see for both leisure and business travel, as well as supporting Scotland’s visitor economy.
“We are already capturing this opportunity with the launch of four new routes next summer, offering Scottish customers greater choice, exceptional value across our unrivalled short-haul network and, in our 30th year, still always aiming to make travel easy.”
Ronald Leitch, Chief Operating Officer at AGS Airports, said: “We are delighted to welcome the addition of a seventh aircraft to easyJet’s Glasgow-based fleet. This latest investment is a clear demonstration of the airline’s continued confidence in Glasgow Airport and its commitment to growing connectivity for our passengers.
“easyJet has been a valued partner for three decades having celebrated 30 years with Glasgow Airport this month, and this expansion will deliver even greater choice and convenience for the millions of passengers who travel through our airport each year with four new routes announced last week including Pisa in Italy, Lisbon in Portugal, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt and Malta.
“The introduction of this aircraft will also support further job creation locally and strengthen Glasgow’s position as a key gateway to Europe and beyond.”
Earlier this month easyJet celebrated its 30th anniversary at Glasgow Airport, marking the airline’s first-ever flight which arrived in Glasgow from London Luton on 10 November 1995. It opened its first Scottish base at Edinburgh in 2001, followed by the second base at Glasgow in 2003, where it will now base seven aircrafts.
