November 10, 2025Paisley will welcome the festive season in style this weekend at the town’s Christmas Lights Switch-On event which returns to a Saturday for the first time since 2019.
The live stage will offer plenty of music and entertainment from 1pm on Saturday 15 November with performances from; Johnstone Brass Band, Angela Duncan, Artie’s Singing Kettle, The Swinging Santas, Feeva, and this year’s stage headliners – Celtic rock band Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
There will also be a series of local community groups, school choirs from West Primary and Bridge of Weir Primary, and singer songwriters performing outside Paisley Central Library throughout the afternoon – a sure way to keep everyone in the festive mood.
There’s plenty to keep the kids entertained as the Art Department will be transformed into Santa’s Workshop with festive arts and crafts, and there will be funfair rides for the thrill seekers in County Square and Bridge Street.
Big Feed’s Christmas Market will be in Abbey Close with a selection of delicious food and drink traders, as well as some market stalls – perfect for picking up a Christmas gift or two!
The fun doesn’t stop there as festive characters will be wandering through the town centre across the afternoon, including Jack Frost, Santa and his elves. Magical light tunnels will light up Dunn Square with different colours, special effects and music so don’t miss out on the perfect photo opportunity.
The big finale moment of the day will take place at the live stage at 6pm when Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron, Santa and a local primary school pupil will switch on Paisley’s Christmas lights for the festive season.
Renfrewshire’s Provost, Lorraine Cameron said: “Paisley Christmas Lights Switch-On is a fantastic family day out with plenty of opportunities to get the whole family in the festive mood.
“It’s sure to attract lots of visitors to the town centre and encourage people to see what fantastic festive goodies they can get their hands on in some of our great local businesses.
I’m really looking forward to switching the lights on with one of the winners of my Christmas Card Competition and I hope to see you all there.”
