Derek Retson, Head Teacher of St James’ Primary School, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the HMIE report and thrilled that inspectors have recognised the fantastic work happening across our school. It’s wonderful to see our nurturing ethos, strong relationships and commitment to high‑quality learning highlighted so clearly.

“Our pupils are exceptional. Every day they bring energy, curiosity and kindness to our school community, and we couldn’t be prouder of them. It is also good to see recognition of our dedicated staff and supportive families for everything they contribute. We’re excited to build on this very positive report and continue driving forward learning and achievement for every child to ensure they thrive and achieve their best.”

Councillor Emma Rodden, Education Convener for Renfrewshire Council, said: “This positive inspection result shows the positive relationships and inclusive ethos across St James’ Primary School in Paisley. Staff are committed to providing high-quality learning and using data about children’s learning to improve their learning experiences.

“Pupils, staff and families should all feel proud of this achievement, which reflects a shared dedication towards their children’s education.”

Janie O’Neill, Director of Renfrewshire Council’s Children’s Services, said: “I am delighted that the children and staff of St James Primary have had this positive feedback following their recent inspection. I had the pleasure of visiting the school recently and took the opportunity congratulate the Head Teacher, Mr Reston, and his staff team in person. Well done to the whole school community as everyone has an important contribution to make to the success of a school.”
