November 4, 2024Neil Bibby, MSP for West Scotland, has praised Two Towns Down, Paisley’s only brewery, after a recent visit to the site.
Mr Bibby met founder Sandy McKelvie, along with his mum-turned-business-partner Liz, at the 47 Back Sneddon Street site to learn about their business’s recent successes and work in the local community.
Founded in 2019, Two Towns Down is a brewery with Paisley at its heart, boasting the world-famous Paisley Pattern on each of its beer cans.
It also takes a uniquely musical approach to the naming of its products, with each beer being named after a song by a popular band or artist.
Types of beer brewed by Two Towns Down include These Streets pale ale and Stuck in the Middle with Eldorado, which recall songs by Paisley acts Paolo Nutini and Stealers Wheel, respectively.
Mr Bibby praised the brewery’s impressive rise and engagement with local bars and restaurants, as well as its involvement in events around the town including this year’s Halloween Festival, where it had a stall.
Neil Bibby MSP said: “I was delighted to meet Sandy and Liz at Two Towns Down to discuss their fantastic work as one of our area’s up-and-coming local businesses.
“As their branding shows, they are a real champion of Paisley, and I look forward to seeing them continue to grow into the future.
“I was also pleased that the Chancellor cut beer duty in this year’s Budget, which will benefit businesses like Two Towns Down across Scotland.”
In addition to the brewery itself, the company’s site includes a tap room serving draught beer, which is open every Friday 4pm–10pm and Saturday 2pm–10pm.
