The SAMA Paisley Takeover returns to the town for 2022 and this time due to the Arts Centre being refurbished it is at The Bungalow. The annual series events include a music showcase featuring 3 of Scotland finest musicians. On the bill is corto.alto which is the brain-child of award winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and visual artist Liam Shortall. Liam has worked as a trombonist, guitarist & music producer in Glasgow from the age of 16. Kitti who won Best Vocalist at The Scottish Jazz Awards 2020 and also won  Best Female Breakthrough Artist at The Scottish Music Awards 2020. Kitti shows promise of a bright future ahead, while establishing herself as “one to watch”. Nathan Somevi is a young Jazz songwriter and guitarist based in Glasgow. He recently released his debut EP, ‘Can’t Be Done’, in September 2020 and was nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’ for the Scottish Alternative Music Awards. Doors are at 7pm. Spaces are limited and tickets can be bought at Renfrewshire Council ticket site.

Something a bit different for The Bungalow this week.  For the first time four piece live band Soleo will be playing flamenco and Tango for you to dance away your Saturday afternoon. There are limited tickets to make space for dancing but there are tickets left and available on the door. Opens at 2pm.  The band have a huge reputation and will be a fantastic afternoon.

Tomorrow night is one for the Mods. Two very popular bands are hitting the stage for a night of great music. The Soul Foundation is a Motown/Soul band who has absorbed themselves in both Classic Soul and the Detroit Motown Sounds of the 1960’s. The Redstarts are one of the best Mod bands about. Hailing from the east of Scotland, these guys will get you dancing. Door open at 7pm and you can pay on entry.

This Sundays Open Stage has a Disney theme and looks like a great day out for families. Starts at 2pm and it is free entry. It has been a while but local band Too Red are back at The Bungalow on Thursday night. The popular band has a big following and it looks to be a busy one. Also on the bill is La-Di-Da’s and Sophie Tonner. Doors 7:00pm. Tickets £5/£3 Students available on Eventbrite and on the door of the night.

 

Scottish Pink Floyd

Rocknrolls has a fantastic night of Pink Floyd classics performed live by The Scottish Pink Floyd tribute band tomorrow night. This two and a half hour show features songs from albums including Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here, The Wall, Division Bell and more. Doors are 7.30pm and tickets are on Eventbrite. On Sunday the Rocknrollas Djs have a special Ska Day on Sunday and it starts at 4pm. It is all old skool vinyl and it is free entry.

The Cave’s serving of live band this week start with The Lynsey Dolan Band tonight from 8pm then tomorrow in the early slot at 6pm it is Dirty Jewels followed straight after by Blackout. On Sunday they welcome back Jim Keilt with his legendary Jam Blues Session from 6pm.

At The Old Swan tonight is Duncan Mclellan from 7pm then tomorrow afternoon at 4pm it is Memphis. Northern Soul Sunday starts at 3pm. Clyde are back in their usual slot at 5pm on Monday. Swan favourite Lee James is in on Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm.

The Keg has another great weekend lined up starting with Canyon tonight at 9pm and tomorrow night from 9pm it is Warren Capaldi.

 

Cherry Red 53 local rockabilly crew are at Kennedys on Sunday from 3pm. The Anchor has a live band on Sunday from 4.30pm.

This week’s Open Mic sessions are: Abbey Bar on Monday with Dunky Hunter at 8pm, Jason Flood is hosting at Gantry on Tuesday from 9pm, Johnny Barr will be at The Keg from 8.30pm.
