THIRSTY runners in the Paisley 10k Race and Fun Run on Sunday will down an amazing 440 gallons of water handed out by organisers.

This is just one of the many aspects that go into the meticulous planning of such a big event.

Renfrewshire Leisure who are organising the event will be handing out cups of water at various points in the race and at the finishing line everyone will get a bottle of water to stop dehydration.

The Paisley 10k Race, which starts at 10am and the Fun Run, setting off at 12.15pm from County Square is expected to be one of the most successful ever held.

Joyce McKellar, chief executive of Renfrewshire Leisure said: “This event takes months and months of planning and we’re now putting the finishing touches to what we expect to be a fabulous day for both the serious runners and the people who just love our Fun Run.
“Thousands of pounds will be raised for charities and good causes on Sunday and that’s a really important feature of the event.
“We’re all looking forward to the day and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the weather forecast of cloudy, but dry is spot on.”
