Pupils from Renfrewshire schools are being invited to get ready to rock over the Easter holidays.
Renfrewshire Instrumental Service, in partnership with ‘Loud ‘n’ Proud’ is offering free workshops to pupils up to and including S3 from Renfrewshire schools.
The project, funded by Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative, is calling for pupils who have experience on one of the following: guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard or voice.
Pupils will have the opportunity to attend band coaching and song writing workshops along with receiving tuition on an intensive basis for three hours each day. Participants will then be able to showcase their work at the annual ‘Battle of the Bands’ event where they will have the chance to see experienced groups in action as well as compete for a prize in their own category.
Councillor Lorraine Cameron, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Education Policy Board, said, “This partnership programme offers a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to be creative and to work together. I’m really looking forward to hearing them perform together at the Battle of the Bands event later in the year.”
The sessions will take place at Westway Studios in Renfrew week commencing Monday 9 April at either morning or afternoon sessions and will run until Friday 13 April.
