Contract awarded for next stage in Ferguslie Park regeneration
November 21, 2025The annual Reclaim the Night march returns to Paisley streets at the end of November.
Renfrewshire residents are being encouraged to join the march calling for an end to harassment and violence against women and girls on the streets and in their homes.
The event is organised by Renfrewshire Council’s Youth Services’ team and Women and Children First team as well as its partners and community groups. It’s held as part of the United Nation’s global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

People can come along on Thursday 27 November and gather outside University of West of Scotland’s entrance on Paisley High Street from 5.45pm.
The march starts at 6pm. Pipers will lead the crowd down the High Street towards Dunn Square. Linwood High pupil Lewis will sing as part of the memorial event to remember women and girls who have lost their lives to violence.
Afterwards, refreshments and entertainment will take place in Paisley Town Hall.
Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron said: “Women and young people should feel safe to be out at night free from the threat of sexual assault and harassment at all times of year, but especially during the dark nights in winter. That’s why it’s important we raise our voices on this important issue and join together to help Reclaim the Night.

“As a council, we continue to work with communities and our partners to make sure this is a safe place to live, work, study and visit. Assaults and violence against women and young people are not acceptable. Everyone should be safe from gender-based violence.
“I hope as many people as possible can come along to this event.”
