he Beat the Street Renfrewshire winners are announced!

The recent Beat the Street challenge has come to an end across Renfrewshire with thousands of participants walking, cycling, wheeling, running and scooting around Bridge of Weir, Elderslie, Houston, Howwood, Kilbarchan, Linwood, Johnstone, and Lochwinnoch in a bid to win points and prizes!

A "Congratulations!" banner with lists of top schools, teams, and individuals ranked by total and average points, including Fordbank, Bridge Of Weir, and Howwood Primary Schools, and Active Communities and Meg’s.

A total of 6,542 players signed up and together clocked up a total of 60,664 active travel miles.

The winners are:

Schools – total points

  1. Fordbank Primary School
  2. Houston Primary School
  3. Bridge of Weir Primary School
  4. Auchenlodment Primary School

Schools – average points

  1. Howwood Primary School
  2. Fordbank Primary School
  3. St David’s Primary School
  4. Thorn Primary School

Community and workplace teams – total points

  1. Active Communities
  2. Auchenlodment ELCC
  3. Abbey Nursery
  4. Houston ELCC

Community and workplace teams – average points

  1. Active Communities
  2. Auchenlodment ELCC
  3. Wallace ELCC
  4. Houston ELCC

Councillor Michelle Campbell, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: “It’s been fantastic to see so many people across Renfrewshire getting involved in Beat the Street. While we’re sad to see the game come to an end, the energy and enthusiasm from our communities has been truly inspiring. Congratulations to all the winners and to everyone who took part and made the choice to travel actively.”

Beat the Street Renfrewshire has been commissioned by Renfrewshire Council and funded by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT). It is being delivered by Intelligent Health.
