December 12, 2016Tenants from retirement housing complex Glentanar Court in Paisley had a Christmas party for children and mums affected by domestic abuse and supported by Renfrewshire Womens Aid on Saturday December 10th.
Tenants secured funding from their landlord, Cairn Housing Association to arrange for ‘Archie’ the softplay double decker bus from Glasgow Kids Play Bus to attend, and local ethical business Food in the Hood provided a hearty lunch.
Looking to their community to support the event tenants were delighted with the response from Abbey Mill Childcare, Morrisons and Unite who all rallied round to work with tenants to make sure that the party was a fab festive event with Santa handing out gifts to both children and mums.
Social group Treasurer Jean Finnegan said ‘ it was just great to give something back to the community, Renfrewshire Womens Aid do such good work, and to see the wee weans with big smiles on their faces made all the hard work worthwhile’. Fellow social group member Fred Wood was full of praise for all those who had supported the event saying ‘it proves that the good people of Paisley can pull together to show what the spirit of Christmas is all about
