Can you give a pair of PJs this Christmas?

Fresh new pyjamas are a Christmas essential, and Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron is looking for your help to make sure every child feels cosy and warm this Christmas.

For the fifth year in a row, Provost Cameron is encouraging residents to donate a pair of new pyjamas, cosy socks or slippers in aid of the Provost’s Pyjama Appeal.

All ages and sizes are welcome from birth to teenagers. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

• Made in Paisley – 69b High Street, Paisley
• Paisley Pie Co – 25 Causeyside Street, Paisley
• Johnstone Railway Station – Thorn Brae, Johnstone
• Office of Natalie Don-Innes MSP – 1a Paisley Road, Renfrew
• Braehead Shopping Centre

The donated pyjamas and other items will be collected and gifted to families in need across Renfrewshire, in partnership with various local charities and Renfrewshire Council Children’s Services.

Home Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde are one of the charities supported through the appeal. Team Manager Ashley Greenwood said: “The impact the pyjama appeal has for the families we support goes beyond a cosy nights sleep. Many of the children we support are in financial hardship and something as small as pyjamas helps restore a sense of care, dignity and warmth. Each set of pyjamas donated to our service reminds families that they are seen, supported and valued.”

Provost Cameron said: “New pyjamas at Christmas are something most of us took for granted growing up, but many families in our communities are struggling on a low income and new pyjamas can be quite far down their priority list this Christmas.

“If you are unable to make it to a drop-off point but would still like to take part, please get in touch with me and I will arrange a collection of your donation.

“I can guarantee that all donations will be gifted to families who truly need them and will make such a positive impact in our communities, ensuring that every child feels the warmth and joy of Christmas.”

Please ensure all items donated are new with tags on and are unwrapped.
