November 15, 2024A Selective Agency and Hug Live Presentation with Space and Headfeeder on their Bubble Gum 24 Tour heads to The Bungalow tonight. Space are from Liverpool and they formed in 1992 initially as a trio of Tommy Scott (vocals, bass, guitar), Jamie Murphy (vocals, guitar) and Jamie Island (drums), who was later replaced by Andy Parle. Keyboard player Franny Griffiths joined the line-up a year later, and the band signed to Gut Records in 1995, eventually rising to prominence with hit singles such as “Female of the Species”, “Me and You Versus the World”, “Neighbourhood”, “Avenging Angels” and “The Ballad of Tom Jones”, the latter a duet with Cerys Matthews of Catatonia. Tickets on the door from 7pm.
Tom Urie returns to The Bungalow with his brilliant Piano Jukebox show. If you haven’t experienced an afternoon with Tom before pop in and enjoy the music, the stories and the banter from one of Paisleys best loved sons. This is a free gig, and it looks like a busy one so get in early to get a seat. Doors are at 1pm.
Two of the best bands of the nineties Blur and Pulp are being celebrated tomorrow night at The Bungalow by BLUR 2 V PULPd. It will be a great night of Indie Pop hits. Tickets on the door from 7pm. The very popular Itchycoo Park return on Sunday for more songs of the 60’s and more. Free entry and doors are 1pm. The Bungalow Open Stage and Jam stat at 7pm. On Thursday Introducing Night the line up is Social Dancing, Girl Upstairs and Lucas H to the stage.
The Motown Brothers are playing at The Old Swan tonight, and it looks like a sellout unless there are some hand backs so keep your eyes peeled for spare tickets. The Motown Brothers are the most popular and well-known Motown Show in Scotland, and possibly in the UK since reaching the semi-finals of BBC’s ‘The Voice’ which was viewed by over 35,000,000 people over a 7-week period. Wayne and Morgan made many friends during show including Will.I.Am and Sir Tom Jones, and their outstanding vocals and effervescent performances as they went through each round gained them more fans each time. Plus, their personalities really shone through and show them to be exactly the nice guys that they are! This is a night full of the best songs sung by an amazing duo. Support starts at 7pm.
Soldiers of Apollo will be on stage tomorrow afternoon at 4pm and on Sunday the Soul Club starts at 4pm with John and Maria. Monday Crawford Carlyle will be singing from 4pm and on Wednesday Duncan McLellan also starts at 4pm. Lee Jame is in his usual residency at 3pm on Tuesday and Thursday with more, songs, comedy and storytelling.
Mark Walton will be singing songs from throughout the years at The Cave tonight and he kicks off at 8.30pm. Canyon is at The Cave tomorrow from 5pm and they are followed at 8pm by ‘The Mighty’ Black Triangles. The Brian Kelly Band starts at 6pm on Sunday. Jen of The Cave said “We are really looking forward to welcoming these guys back”
Sad Ida is playing at Kennedys on Sunday from 3pm and over at The Inn on the Corner the live action starts at 4.30pm.
Open Mic/Stage sessions next week are: The Abbey at 9pm on Monday, Ugly Duck Monday at 7pm, The Gantry at 9pm on Tuesday, The Bungalow on Tuesday 7pm, The Keg on Wednesday at 8.30pm and The Wee Howff from 8pm on Thursday. The Inn on the Corner has an Open Mic on the last Tuesday of the month.
