Generous Legacy Honors Lost Loved Ones

Danielle McGuire participated in Glasgow’s Kiltwalk to raise funds for Johnstone Cat Rescue and Lost Pets Renfrewshire, community groups dear to her heart.

Inspired by a Facebook post, Gillian reached out to the groups.

In a touching tribute to their late relatives, siblings Gillian and her brother Alasdair decided to honor their compassionate legacy with a generous donation of £10,000.

Gillian McLay, whose father Colin McLay and Aunt Sheena Elder were well-known for their kindness in Paisley, contacted Johnstone Cat Rescue / Lost Pets Renfrewshire with a heartfelt offer. The donation, from Aunt Sheena’s legacy to Colin, who passed away last year, serves as a poignant tribute to their memory.

Expressing their wishes, Gillian said, “My brother and I would like our Aunt and Dad to be recognized with the donation if possible, and their name associated with it.”

The legacy reflects Colin and Sheena’s lifelong dedication to compassion. Despite Colin’s battle with Alzheimer’s, the mention of his beloved cat Snooky would light up his face. Gillian fondly remembers Snooky’s excitement at her father’s return home, even in the darkest moments of his illness.

Gillian believes the efforts of Johnstone Cat Rescue / Lost Pets Renfrewshire ensure that “pets like Snooky have a better chance to welcome their owners’ home.”

With gratitude, Gillian, Alasdair, and cousins Jackie, Karen and Alison honor Colin McLay and Sheena Elder’s legacies through this donation, ensuring their kindness lives on.
