Mill Town Music Festival is a new event to be held in Paisley Town Hall on 31st August 2024.
This will genuinely be the greatest night of country and americana music that Paisley has ever seen. With five artists from the US and the cream of the UK’s country and americana scene performing, together with line dancing for every level, this going to be quite a night! Doors open at 4.30pm to provide live music in the Main and Acoustic Stages plus line dancing in the Dance Ranch.
Mill Town Music Festival is presented in the newly refurbished Paisley Town Hall by Cumbrae Promotions, the team that ran Millport Country Music Festival since 2017. The venue has a premier location in the heart of Paisley, with various local amenities on its doorstep. It is served by the M8 motorway, just a 20 minute drive from Glasgow city centre and 8 minutes from Glasgow Airport. Train and bus links are excellent, with Paisley Gilmour Street station just a five-minute walk away. With a capacity of 1,150, offering standing on the ground floor and seating in the balcony and gallery, together with an extensive food and drink offer, the venue really does represent a state of the art facility. With the recent announcement of the ACM nomination for Group Of The Year, Flatland Cavalry is breaking out into a gallop. Four critically acclaimed albums into their career, this Texas sextet is breaking out big time in the US, having supported Luke Combs and Willie Nelson at numerous stadium shows and appearing at many festivals across the summer before heading to the UK in August. With more new music recently released in the form of their latest album, Wandering Star, Flatland Cavalry is approaching global influence in the Country & Americana music world.
Kristian Bush is one half of the superstar duo, Sugarland, which has scored over 20 million album sales and five No. 1 hits, as well as many awards. Kristian will be touring this year in support of the no fewer than four new albums that he has released over the last couple of years while Sugarland have been on a break. A prodigious songwriter, his solo music blends Nashville country and Georgia R&B, supplemented by his abilities as an on-stage raconteur.
Striking melodies, energetic rhythms, catchy songs, and a fiercely formidable live act – Morganway, the reigning British Country Music Association Group of The Year, have made quite the impression on the UK’s rising Americana scene. The band is known for layering rich, six-part vocal harmonies over driving guitar, fiddle and keyboard riffs. With traces of 70s West Coast and classic rock to rootsy folk and country, Morganway is “like no other band out there right now…. reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac” (Entertainment Focus).
An accomplished songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Alyssa Bonagura has a sound that blurs the boundaries between genres, mixing the storytelling of country music, the free-thinking spirit of rock ‘n’ roll and the cinematic sweep of Brit pop into its own hybrid. Throw in an engaging stage presence and a great band and you have a terrific live show.
Paisley-born Jill Jackson is a rising star in the UK’s bustling americana scene, known for her raw talent and honest storytelling. Her new album, ‘Curse Of The Damned’, explores her tumultuous journey and this, her homecoming show, provides the Paisley audience with the chance to catch up on Jill’s progress.
The Acoustic Stage headliner, Kaitlin Butts, delivers a diverse range of songs from haunting murder ballads through cosmic dancers to her wonderfully fun new single “Hunt You Down” (yes, Kesha’s song but with Kaitlin’s own spin on it). Rolling Stone says Kaitlin “makes a strong case that she ought to be positioned somewhere between Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves at country’s vanguard – an Oklahoma native with a big, malleable voice and the songwriting skills to match …..such an exciting talent.”
Another Texas native, Andrew Combs has called Nashville home since 2006 and his six albums from his debut ‘Worried Man” to 2022’s ‘Sundays’ have racked up many millions of streams as he has been recognized as a singer and songwriter whose work bridges the freedom and possibility of his visual art with the influence of classic writing and storytelling. NPR have hailed Andrew as “one of Nashville’s most poetically gifted young singer-songwriters”
Airdrie-based Robyn Red leads the way as one of the most exciting young talents in the UK – a claim backed up by numerous accolades including becoming the British Country Music Association’s Horizon Award 2024 winner. Having already played a number of festivals around the UK, Robyn will be playing not only her hit singles ‘Like A Bullet’, ‘Luke Jackson’ and ‘When The Sun Sets’, but also new material likely to feature in her future debut album.
Raintown offer an attention-grabbing mix of contemporary country and Scottish rock that’s unashamedly forward thinking. Boasting many awards and three critically acclaimed albums, including their latest, Acoustic Heart, Raintown’s live shows are a feast for the senses with energetic and charismatic performances that leave audiences delighted and enthralled. Their dynamic sound is a true testament to their exceptional musical talent.
Hosting the Dance Ranch, which will provide line dancing for all levels, and the Honky Tonk After Party in the Main Hall following Flatland Cavalry’s performance, will be Rodeo Stomp, who can always be relied on to teach new dances and have those heels a’kicking and stomping to old and recent favourites alike.
