February 2, 2023Communities are being invited to attend the announcement of the successful projects for Renfrewshire Council’s #YouDecide campaign.
Local people put forward ideas for infrastructure projects in their area, such as park upgrades, lighting improvements or enhanced road safety, with £1.2million made available for investment by the council.
Communities have been casting their votes for the projects they believe will make the biggest difference to their local area and each of the 16 areas will receive £75,000, with a maximum of £50,000 per idea.
The successful projects are set to be announced at a small event on Thursday 9 February 2023 at the UWS Student Union on Storie Street in Paisley.
The event starts at 6pm, with food and refreshments being provided, and stalls are available for local community groups to come along and speak to local people about their work and initiatives.
Councillor Michelle Campbell, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: “I hope that as many people as possible come along to the event to find out which projects communities have voted for and find out a bit more about the community engagement work going on in Renfrewshire.
“#YouDecide has been a fantastic way to speak to local people in all of our communities, find out what matters to them, and now we’re going to be able to make the improvements that they’ve told us are needed.
“I’m looking forward to finding out which projects have been successful and seeing the difference they will make to our local areas.”
Anyone wishing to attend should register for their free ticket in advance by visiting www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/youdecide.
