June 17, 2017Having had both of their fathers cared for at St Vincent’s Hospice, cousins Sharon Davis and Linda Davis decided to host a series of fundraising events to support the work of the Hospice.
cheque being presented in our community gardenGathering a group of friends together to climb Ben Nevis at the start of April, with temperatures feeling like -15 degrees at the top was an incredible achievement for them. Later that month Sharon and Linda held a charity night at Lochwinnoch Bowling Club. The bowling club was packed on the night with friends and family who had a great time and between auctions and raffles they raised over £2,200 which they were delighted with.
Sharon said “We thought it would be a great way for us to give something back and show our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the amazing doctors and nurses in the hospice for the care and support they provided to both our dads, and to ourselves and our families, during those difficult times”.
Between the Ben Nevis climb, the bowling club charity night and some other online raffles an incredible total of £6,328.76 was raised from Sharon and Linda’s series of events for “remembered with a smile”.
Sharon and Linda would like to express their thanks to all who attended their fundraising night, came on the Nevis climb, donated, purchased an auction item and offered their support to what was an incredibly successful fundraising night.

Laura McDade, fundraiser at St Vincent’s Hospice said “On behalf of all at St. Vincent’s Hospice we can’t thank Linda, Sharon, “The Nevis Nutters” and everyone who kindly sponsored their efforts enough. This is an incredible sum of money raised and it will go to such good use supporting those affected with life-limiting illnesses in the Renfrewshire area.”
