How Paisley’s Town of the Year Win Could Boost Tourism in 2026
November 25, 2025Crowds turned out in Renfrew town centre on Saturday to see the town’s Christmas lights switched on for 2025.
There was fun for all the family with a Christmas market, face painting, a funfair, street entertainers and a giant snow globe – perfect for capturing those special family memories.
Renfrew Burgh Band hosted their annual carol concert in Renfrew Town Hall, and local school children and performers kept the crowds entertained all afternoon from the main stage.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without an appearance from Santa, who was in his grotto to find out what the children of Renfrew are hoping to find in their stockings this year.
At 5pm Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron was joined by competition winner, Harris from St James’ Primary School, to push the button and light up Renfrew. There’s still plenty of festive cheer to come in Renfrewshire with Christmas events taking place in Erskine (Friday 28 December), Johnstone (Saturday 29 December) and Linwood (Friday 5 December).
