People who have space in their lives and hearts to offer a child a loving home are being urged to come along to an event with Renfrewshire Council’s foster care team.

The in-person drop-in event will be held on Wednesday 17 May between 10am and 12midday at Finding Your Feet Charity Hub on St James’ Street, Paisley.

Foster carers and the foster care team will be there to give out information and answer questions about fostering.

Councillor Emma Rodden, convener of the Education and Children’s Services Policy Board, said the work foster carers do to provide a loving and safe home for children is vital to ensure they can get the best start in life.

She said: “Foster care gives children and young people the chance of a positive, brighter future. Offering them love and a place in your home can give them the stability they need to feel wanted, valued and safe.

“We are committed to ensuring every child and young person reaches their potential. For some, that means living with a new family, either on the short term or long term.

“Our foster carers are dedicated, making a real difference to young people’s lives. They are a diverse group of people, coming from all walks of life. They provide a stable home and help keep children within their own community where possible.

“If you think you could help to make a real difference to a young person’s life, please come along and find out more about being a foster carer at this event.”

Foster carers can be in work or unemployed, be single, married, in a same sex or heterosexual relationship and can own or rent the property they live in.

Training, support and a generous allowance is provided to all foster carers.
