AN Asian singing superstar who has an amazing 1.4 BILLION YouTube views of one of his songs is to play Braehead Arena.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will perform to an expected sell-out crowd of more than 4000 fans at the Arena on Sunday, July 2.

The concert at Braehead Arena will be the only Scottish date on Rahat’s UK tour this year and tickets are now on sale at www.braeheadarena.co.uk .

He is the nephew of legendary Qawwali singer, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan; son of musician, Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan and grandson of singer, Fateh Ali Khan.

Rahat is one of the most famous and highest-paid singers in Pakistan and has a huge following all over the world.

His material is mainly Qawwali – a form of Sufi devotional music – although he also performs love songs from the ghazals genre and other light music.

As well as releasing albums and videos, Rahat is also popular as a playback singer in Hindi cinema and the Pakistan film industry. And the video for one of his songs, Zaroori Tha has 1.4 billion views on YouTube.

When Rahat toured the UK in 2012, he played to a combined audience of more than 20,000 people, performing at Wembley Arena and Manchester Arena.

Braehead Arena managing director, Gareth Chalmers said: “From what I’ve seen and heard of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan this concert will be a sell-out.

“Fans of his music will be mesmerised by the show, his voice and his stage presence.

“It looks like this will be a memorable night and a concert not to be missed.”
