Renfrewshire residents are being encouraged to enter local prize draws to be in with a chance to win gift vouchers – just in time for Christmas.

Three separate competitions, supported by Renfrewshire Council, are taking place in Paisley, Renfrew and Johnstone, offering gift vouchers to spend in participating local businesses this winter.

The council, in partnership with Paisley First, is giving away four prizes of £1,000 of town centre gift vouchers with Paisley’s Christmas Golden Ticket Competition.

To enter the competition people will receive a golden ticket with every purchase made in Paisley town centre. The ticket can be posted in one of the golden post boxes located in the Piazza Shopping Centre Paisley and The Paisley Centre. Golden tickets are available now in town centre businesses, with two winners drawn on Monday 5 December and a further two winners selected on Monday 12 December.

As part of this year’s festive celebrations in Renfrew and Johnstone, Renfrewshire Council has organised a Spend Local Giveaway offering people the chance to win £250 of gift vouchers to spend locally. You can enter the draw by filling out one of the Spend Local postcards available from participating businesses.

Eight winners will be drawn at the Renfrew Christmas Lights Switch-On event on Saturday 26 November with a further eight winners being picked at the Johnstone Lights Switch-On event on Saturday 3 December, each winning £250 worth of vouchers.

Colette Cardosi, Chair of Paisley First, said: “Our local businesses are the heartbeat of our town centre community so please support them and put Paisley first when it comes to Christmas Shopping.

“We have everything you need for all your Christmas shopping to please even the fussiest recipient and the majority of our businesses across retail, health, hair and beauty and food and drink all sell gift cards if you want to give the gift of choice this Christmas.”

David Neil from Kustom Kruizers, said: “We are delighted to be taking part in the Spend Local giveaway. Renfrew has lots of great shops, so please shop local when you can to support our town.”

Renfrewshire Council leader Iain Nicolson said: “We are delighted to be working with our local businesses and partners to deliver these competitions offering fantastic prizes to residents.

“Renfrewshire’s towns and villages are home to some fantastic retail and hospitality businesses and these competitions help to showcase what’s on offer.

“We know that around 70p in every pound spent locally stays in the local economy, so this year – more than ever – we are encouraging residents to Spend Local wherever they can and support local traders throughout Renfrewshire.”
