YOUNGSTERS will get the chance to meet two of their favourite characters from children’s books at Braehead shopping centre tomorrow/today. (Saturday, August 20)

Both the Zog and Highway Rat mascots will be at a special free storytelling session in the mall to celebrate the re-opening of the Waterstones bookshop after moving to a new store in the centre.

Both Zog and the Highway Rat are popular children’s books written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffer.

As well as having the books read to them, children will be able to take part in colouring-in activities and have their photograph taken with the Zog and Highway Rat mascots.

The Highway Rat storytelling will be between 11am and 11.30am in the lower mall, outside the Boots store and the Zog activities will be between 2pm and 2.30pm at the same place on Saturday, August 20.

Braehead centre director Peter Beagley said: “We’re very excited that Waterstones have arranged for such popular children’s characters to come to Braehead.

“We’ve been looking forward to Waterstones re-opening after they fitted out and moved to a new retail unit in the upper mall.

The storytelling event to celebrate their re-opening will be very popular.”

Although entry to the storytelling sessions are free, those attending should book a ticket from the Waterstones Braehead website www.waterstones.com/bookshops/braehead.
