January 10, 2017The credit union has launched a funeral finance product specifically aimed to help tackle funeral poverty throughout Renfrewshire.
The rising cost of the average funeral in Scotland is £3,716. Renfrewshire-Wide Credit Union appreciates that this can be a difficult time for families as paying for a loved one’s funeral can be a financial strain for many people. RWCU has launched a product to help ease the financial burden felt by Renfrewshire families who may struggle to pay funeral expenses. RWCU’s Manager, Karen Graham, said: “The Funeral Finance product should help reduce anxiety and distress caused by financing a funeral and help protect families from problems caused by resorting to high-interest loans to meet the funeral costs of loved ones. Our aim at Renfrewshire-Wide Credit Union has always been to promote ethical, affordable financial choices to meet the needs of our members. We believe that our credit union services and products offer the people of Renfrewshire a community-based alternative to the high interest deals offered elsewhere.”
With the Funeral Finance loan up to £3,000 can be borrowed to help with the cost, this is an ethical affordable way to pay for a loved one’s funeral. The loan will be available to new and existing members Terms & Conditions will apply.
