It’s a decision that even Lord Alan Sugar would find tough to make on The Apprentice TV show…who to appoint as Head of Fun for one of Scotland’s biggest shopping and leisure destinations.
But that’s exactly the difficult task ahead of these four interviewers who will meet with youngsters as they recruit a boy and girl to fill this high-powered executive post at intu Braehead, near Glasgow.

STV presenter, Jennifer Reoch;  Britain’s Got Talent star, Edward Reid;  DJ with radio station Heart, Paul Harper and intu Braehead marketing manager, Christine Macdonald gathered in the boardroom yesterday to begin deciding who, out of more than 100 applicants, to point their fingers at and say: “You’re hired!”

hired 2Bosses at the mall had advertised for youngsters between the ages of six and ten to apply for the position and to show they had a very important attribute – they should have a good sense of fun.
The new Head of Fun will be tasked with bringing a smile to everyone who comes through the doors of the shopping centre and to make the mall even more child-friendly than it already is.
Hours of work are school holidays and occasional weekends. The boardroom executive position comes with an attractive remuneration package of gift cards, free toys and entry to the many leisure attractions in the centre and Soar at intu Braehead.

The successful applicants will advise the management team on children’s activities, review the latest toys, restaurants and leisure attractions, help organise the intu Braehead Kids’ Club and meet with Santa and his elves at Christmas.

Jennifer Reoch said: “This is one of the best jobs anyone could have and I wish I was young enough to apply.”

Edward Reid added: “I’m just loving being Lord Sugar for a few hours and I’ll be asking the applicants some tough questions.”

Paul Harper said: “The bigger the smile the kids put on my face with their pitch for the job, the more chance they’ll have of getting hired.”

Christine Macdonald added: “With our new Head of Fun in place, coming to intu Braehead will be even more enjoyable for shoppers.”

An announcement on the appointment of the new intu Braehead Head of Fun will be made next week.
