Hillview Early Learning and Childcare Centre (ELCC) are over the moon to get a positive inspection from Education Scotland.

The nursery got two Good grades for ‘learning, teaching and assessment’ and ‘raising attainment and achievement’.

Inspectors said children thrive in the warm, nurturing environment of their nursery. They are happy to engage in learning through play together and are kind and respectful of one another.

Nursery staff deeply value children and their families. There is a calm and caring atmosphere in the centre and children’s rights are at the heart of the nursery’s ethos.

The nursery’s senior leadership team have a strong focus on tracking and monitoring children’s progress, supporting staff to provide continuity in children’s learning and development.

Outdoor learning is helping children develop confidence in playing safely while exploring the natural world. Staff help them be aware of and manage risks, supporting children to build resilience and confidence.

Christine Hann, Hillview ELCC’s head of centre, said: “Our inspection was both positive and supportive. I am proud of my staff team who work hard every day to ensure our children are respected, nurtured and involved in a meaningful way in their learning journey. We embrace wellbeing for all with our children at the centre of everything we do.

“Our motto is ‘Together We Thrive’ as we recognise the importance of will involving our families and partners in our journey to be the best we can be. As a team, we will continue to grow and develop to ensure the best outcomes for our children, families and staff here at Hillview.”

Councillor Emma Rodden, convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Education and Children’s Services Policy Board, said: “The staff at Hillview ELCC work hard to develop a nurturing environment where children feel safe, respected and eager to learn through play. The strong emphasis on children’s rights and tracking their educational progress are all supporting children’s wellbeing, setting them up for a positive future. I’m delighted to see the centre get such positive feedback from inspectors.”

Janie O’Neill, director of the Council’s Children’s Services, added: “Hillview ELCC’s positive inspection reflects the deep care and professionalism shown by the Head of Centre and her team every day. Their commitment to nurturing each child’s development in a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment is evident throughout the report. I am very proud of the way staff work in partnership with families and the wider community to ensure children’s right are upheld and their wellbeing is prioritised. This report highlights the strength of early years practice in Renfrewshire and our shared ambition to give every child the best possible start.”
