October 25, 2024OneRen is delighted to announce its Winter Festival programme, Merry and Bright – a vibrant and diverse lineup of events designed to bring the community together during the holiday season. From beloved pantomimes, festive movies, to creative workshops and insightful talks, this year’s winter festival offers something for everyone.
Key Highlights:
- Aladdin (27 November – 5 January, Paisley Arts Centre): Kick-start the festive season with this enchanting pantomime. With tickets from £12.50, audiences can look forward to a thrilling adventure filled with laughter and wonder. Special performances include a Relaxed Performance on 8 December at 11am and a BSL signed show on 10 December at 7pm.
- The Gruffalo (28–31 December, Paisley Town Hall): Families will be thrilled to enjoy this much-loved children’s tale come to life. Ticket prices starting at £12, with family and group packages available. The performances will include accessible options such as BSL interpretation and a relaxed performance with a Touch Tour.
Festive Entertainment:
- G4 Christmas 2024 Concert (20 November, Paisley Town Hall): Experience an evening of classic Christmas songs performed by the renowned vocal group G4. Tickets start at £19.50.
- Family & Evening Ceilidh (7 December, Paisley Town Hall): Celebrate with traditional Scottish music and dance at the Festive Family and Evening Ceilidh. With tickets from £10.
- Film Screenings: A series of holiday films will be shown at Paisley Town Hall, including beloved titles like Die Hard, The Muppets Christmas Carol, Elf, and It’s a Wonderful Life. Tickets start from £7. VIP Tickets also available.
Creative Workshops & Talks:
- Dark Sky Evenings at Clyde Muirshiel (28October, Clyde Muirshiel Visitor Centre, Lochwinnoch): Take a closer look at Renfrewshire’s stunning night sky at a series of Dark Sky Viewing Nights. Planned is an in depth look at the planet Saturn, which will be visible in the night’s sky.
- A World Beyond Waste (5 December, Paisley Central Library): Learn how to simplify the festive season by embracing a circular economy, followed by a creative wreath-making workshop using natural and upcycled materials. This event is free but is ticketed.
Councillor Lisa Marie Hughes, chair of OneRen, notes “We’re delighted to launch our Winter Festival, with a blend of cultural, artistic and educational events being delivered right across Renfrewshire and with the addition of the Paisley Town Hall, Paisley Arts Centre and the Paisley Central Library this year the programme is set to be a highlight of the season with something of interest for all ages”.
