Local people in Kilbarchan and the surrounding area are being encouraged to take part in a survey which sets out potential future uses for the Steeple Buildings.
Council officers have been working with heritage specialists from Glasgow Building Preservation Trust to develop proposals for the 250-year-old buildings, which are in need of significant external repairs and upgrades to facilities, with the aim of identifying a sustainable future for the buildings.
A drop-in public consultation event will take place on 3 August from 11am – 3pm at the Parish Church Hall, Steeple Square (PA10 2JD) where local people can speak to the Glasgow Building Preservation Trust about potential uses for the building – with an online survey available for anyone who cannot make it to the event.
Councillor Andy Steel, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Economy and Regeneration Policy Board, said: “The Steeple Buildings have been a landmark in Kilbarchan for more than 250 years so it’s extremely important that the community have the chance to put forward their views about their future.
“The public event and survey is a chance for people to review the suggestions made by experts and help shape the next steps so I would encourage everyone to come along to the in-person event and to spread the word around the local area. If you can’t make it, please take part by filling out the online survey.”
