June 27, 2024PAOLO NUTINI ANNOUNCES PAISLEY CHARITY GIG
June 28, 2024ROCKER Davey Pattison looked to Bob Dylan and a popular romantic movie for inspiration in a video clip promoting his new band’s latest gig on Saturday.
The Davey Pattison Band plays The Bungalow, in Paisley, on Saturday June 29 and was filmed flipping through cue cards like Bob Dylan did with his song Subterranean Homesick Blues, in the mid Sixties.
There was a similar scene in the 2003 movie Love Actually, when the guy, played by actor Andrew Lincoln, stands on the doorstep and uses cue cards to reveal how much he loves the girl, played by Keira Knightley.
Davey – who lives in Paisley – has returned to Scotland after spending 40 years in America playing huge arenas and stadiums as lead vocalist with rock groups like Gamma and the Robin Trower Band, as well as releasing two solo albums in the States. Now he has formed his own group, The Davey Pattison Band who play the soundtrack to Davey’s video.
Davey says: “The Bob Dylan scene was very memorable, as I reckon it was the first time anyone had filmed themselves using cue cards to promote a song.
“And when I was living in San Francisco, I watched the Love Actually movie with my daughters and we loved the scene on the doorstep with the guy telling the girl how much he loved her with messages written on cue cards.
“I might have the reputation of a hard-bitten rock ‘n’ roller, but I’m really a romantic at heart!”
Davey added: “When I was thinking what to do on a video clip promoting my new band’s gig at The Bungalow this Saturday, the Bob Dylan and Love Actually scenes suddenly came to mind. So, I recreated these scenes standing in front of The Bungalow venue.”
