Big weekend at Rocknrollas and The Bungalow this weekend. The Christians are at The Bungalow tonight, the first of an NNE Originals Weekend. Renowned for an endless string of soulful yet socially aware hits …Forgotten Town, Ideal World, Born Again, Harvest for the World and many more. Still headed by enigmatic lead singer Garry Christian who has only gained in vocal stature over the years. The band are currently embarking on a huge UK Tour. Tickets on the door from 7pm.

Tomorrow afternoon local Americana band, King of Birds are playing a free gig (limited tickets at the door from 1pm). On the back of their highly acclaimed album Eve of Destruction the band have been busy in rehearsals and have some new material ready to go live. This is what they say about their recent album. “’Eve of Destruction’ is classic, traditional, but also modern and wild – a truly beautiful album” Maverick Magazine. In support is The Hellfire Club from 1.45pm.

Onstage tomorrow night is The Karpets with frontman Tom Hingley who was the lead singer with Inspiral Carpets from 1989-2011. Tom sang on all the Inspirals chart hits, including This is How it Feels, Saturn Five, Dragging Me Down, I Want You, She Comes in the Fall and all the songs on the bands four Major label albums. The live experience is raw, dynamic, punky & energetic. The band play like their very existence depends on it with humour, skill, and volume. Support is Sam Baird. Tickets on the door from 7pm.

NNE are delighted to announce JJ Gilmour will be live at The Bungalow on Sunday afternoon. The Internationally acclaimed Scottish singer-songwriter made his recording debut in 1989 with The Silencers, one of Scotland’s most loved bands who enjoyed great success throughout Europe and America. Doors at 2pm.

In the evening it is the turn of Ian Donaldson (H20). Ian’s music career spans more than 40 years. He came to prominence in the early 1980s as co-founder and lead singer of new wave band H20, which released two UK Top 40 hits in 1983 with the singles “I Dream To Sleep” and “Just Outside of Heaven”. Doors at 7pm.

Tuesday Jam continues next week and starts at 7pm. The Thursday Introducing night features Crashes, Sakura and Gloom Cookie.

WestFest starts tonight at Rocknrollas. The 3-day festival has a mix of tribute bands and cover bands that will serve up a huge list of live bands under the one roof. The list looks like this: Tonight, End of a Century (Britpop), The Kinks Experience (The Kinks), The Broclaimers (Proclaimers). Saturday Talk of the Town (Pretenders), 117 (Covers), Proposal (Covers), The Sell Out (The Who), Paul Weller Experience (Paul Weller), Lost Dogs:Seattle Grunge, Combat Rock (The Clash), The Sensational David Bowie Tribute. The Old Swan has The Distance in tonight from 7pm, tomorrow Dead Flowers from 4pm, Addiction at 8pm, On Monday Crawford Carlyle is singing from 4pm. Lee James is performing on Tuesday and Thursday both days at 3pm and Duncan McLellan 4pm Wednesday. Sunday Soul Session starts at 4pm.

Jamie Angus is at The Keg tonight from 9pm, tomorrow night they have The Brian Kelly Band from 9pm and The Keg Sessions for original artists starts at 9pm Thursday.

The Cave have Wreckless in tomorrow from 5pm and right after them, Gordon’s Alive starts at 8pm and Jim Keilt Blues Band will be kicking off at 6pm on Sunday. ThunderRoad are rocking it out at The Inn on the Corner from 4.30pm.
