Parking in Paisley can now be paid for online or by phone following the introduction of RingGo to car parks and on-street spaces.

Anyone parking in Paisley town centre can pay using the RingGo app, the RingGo website or by calling 0141 437 8378 – with cash payments still available from pay machines on site.

A ticket does not need to be displayed when paying by RingGo as parking attendants will check the license plate on their handheld devices, but a ticket is required when paying by cash.

The Free for Three pilot remains in place at Orchard Street, Weighhouse Close, Hunter Street (upper and lower), Oakshaw, School Wynd and the Lagoon Leisure Centre, with the first three hours of parking after 10am at these locations provided for free and any additional time paid for as normal.

Councillor Michelle Campbell, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: “We want to provide people using our car parks with additional forms of payment as we know it’s not always possible to have change ready to use.

“RingGo allows people to pay via their app, online or by phone and should make the process easier for those who are parking in our car parks regularly.

“You will still have the opportunity to pay by cash if you’d prefer, but the option for digital payment is a great step forward and should support people to park in Paisley town centre and visit our local businesses.”

RingGo is the UK’s top parking app with millions of users nationwide and is already used in a range of other local authorities, including Glasgow, Edinburgh and South Lanarkshire.

Chris Head, RingGo Business Development Manager, said: “We are delighted to begin offering our convenient parking payment option to the residents and visitors of Renfrewshire.

“RingGo is proud to partner 11 further Local Authorities across Scotland, and we know that many motorists who travel to and through Paisley and the surrounding areas will already be familiar with the service.”
