There’s a story issued by an agency late last night about charter flights carrying Rangers fans being cancelled.

This story is inaccurate and we weren’t contact by the agency for clarification.

Glasgow Airport

The flights referenced were cancelled slots, not flights. Airlines request slots.

The first one was for a flight going out at 10.30am that was delayed due to a technical issue with the aircraft. A replacement was flown in by the aircraft. On the screens, which are feed by info direct from airlines, the original slot was showing as cancelled as the aircraft went out at a later time (carrying all the passengers concerned).

The other was down to a slot being filed by an airline at both Glasgow and Prestwick. The airline flew from Prestwick and cancelled the slot yesterday. There was no “chaos” as reporter because all the passengers concerned were flying out from Prestwick. Not Glasgow.

Reporting of this story without confirmation from us has led to unhelpful confusion. This could easily have been rectified had the agency actually check with us.
