A dozen excited Paisley & District u3a entrants had a cracking Easter bonnet competition.  Started as a bit of fun in lockdown 2021, this year’s winner was Chris Dykes from Kilmacolm.  Runners up were Elizabeth Graham in Paisley and Mike Penders of Johnstone with his golf-themed bunnet.  The exclusive ceremony was held in the Salvation Army Hall, Paisley after a talk on Paisley musical theatre by former Paisley Museum keeper of textiles, Valerie Reilly.  Corps Officer and guest judge, Elliot Kervin picked three top hats from entries in the hall and online.

Commented u3a chair, Kathy O’Donnell: ‘Our u3a has some truly creative people.  Each bonnet was exquisite.  We had a lot of fun though Elliot found it hard to select only three winners.  He did enjoy awarding them an Easter egg prize.’

The next u3a monthly meeting is at 2pm on Thursday 5 May.  The subject of genetics is explored with guest speaker, Rosalind Holmes.  Details of this event and other u3a activities and groups at: https://u3asites.org.uk/paisley/welcome
