West College Scotland were delighted to scoop not one, but two top accolades in this week’s Herald Higher Education Awards.  The awards were presented in a glittering ceremony held in Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel on Tuesday 31 May. This is the seventh year that the Awards have taken place celebrating the leading figures and rising stars in Scottish higher education.

Our James Frew Academy, a bespoke apprenticeship training programme developed in partnership with local plumbing and heating giant, James Frew Ltd received the award for Outstanding Business Engagement in Colleges.

Head of Operations Gordon Mack said: “At James Frew, we believe our apprenticeship programme is sector leading. The collaborative nature of our partnership with WCS is essential in helping to improve the life chances of our young workforce.”

Whilst Your Employability Skills (YES) project, a personalised learning programme for individuals with multiple barriers into employment and education was recognised for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion award.

West College Scotland Principal and Chief Executive, Liz Connolly said, “I’m delighted that the College has won these two prestigious awards.  The hard work, creativity and innovation of our staff continue to develop and deliver exciting initiatives and it’s great to see this being recognised.  I’d like to offer my congratulations to all of the nominees and winners on the night.”
