It’s the season of Fantasy Premier League 2020!
Welcome to the FPL world!
The Fantasy Premier League family will finally be reaching 8 million family by the end of next season. You can imagine the amount of craze that fans have for it.
This blog is all about how you should play the game, its rules, and regulations.
How can you play Fantasy Premier League?
You should have a squad of 15 players. Out of them, 11 should play for your team weekly. The rest of the 4 players will be considered as a substitute. In case, any among your 11 players cannot play, these 4 players will play for you.
Points will be given to all the players, and your team would be scored weekly.
Let’s jump into the team management.
FPL Squad Management:
As said earlier, your squad should consist of 15 members, namely,
- 2 goalkeepers
- 5 defenders
- 5 midfielders
- 3 forwards
You are not allowed to select more than 3 players from the same team.
Therefore, your formation should be like 5-4-1, 5-3-2, 5-2-3, 4-5-1, 4-4-42, 4-3-3, 3-5-2, and 3-4-3.
The last step of organizing a squad is to select a vice-captain and a captain. Choosing a wise and great captain can be beneficial.
FPL scoring breakdown:
The general points allocated for all the positions is,
- 1 point- playing less than 1 hour.
- 2 points- playing 1 hour few minutes.
- Bonus points- based on performance.
- 3 points- assistance.
- -1 point- yellow card.
- -3 points- red card.
- -2 points- own goal.
- -2 points- penalty miss.
- 6 points- goal scored.
- 4 points- clean sheet.
- 1 point- every 3 saved shots.
- 5 points- penalty save.
- -2 points- every 2 goals conceded.

- 1 point- clean sheet.
- 4 points- goal scored.
It is therefore essential to choose all your players wisely.
FPL Transfers and deadlines:
You are assigned a proper deadline before every game week so that you can manage and transfer your squad. It is generally done before one hour of the very first match of the GW. Make sure that you keep an eye on the given deadlines so that you don’t miss any of them week in and week out if you really aspire to gain the position of a successful FPL manager.
You are offered with one free transfer with each GW. You can either use it before the provided deadline or save it for the future. In simple terms, you can have 2 transfers at any point in time.
Winning among 8 million people over the globe is undoubtedly a big win!
Basically, there are 2 types of leagues: private and public league.
Public league: it is an easy task to enter a public league as it is open for all.
Private league: Basically, you need to enter a league code in order to join the private league. Anyone can create a private league and invite their friends and family.
However, the FPL site claims that “private leagues are the soul and heart of the game.”
What the FPL site does is, they create leagues further. Classic and Head-to-head.
Classic: take it as a premier league. The manager who scores the highest points at the end of the season will be considered as the champion!
Head-to-head: take it as a FA cup. You will be assigned randomly with any random league manager for each GW. By the end of the season, whoever scores the highest GW, wins the cup!
Well, this is all that you need to know about the necessary information regarding FPL.
