If you have a bit of the January Blues, look no further. Get down to The Bungalow tonight and catch a hold of Hugh Reed and the Velvet Underpants. Hugh Reed and the Velvet Underpants have recently reformed after a momentary hiatus whilst Hugh worked in China. Since his return to Glasgow, the band have been busy recording new material and hitting the live scene supporting The Alabama 3, Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5 as well as selling out their own shows throughout the central belt of Scotland.

Hugh Reed and the Velvet Underpants have a long musical career having toured and supported bands such as The Fall, Half Man Half Biscuit, Mogwai, Simple Minds and Belle and Sebastian as well as many others.

Following local TV appearances, The Velvet Underpants were invited by Deborah Harry of the band ‘Blondie’ to support her on 11 dates throughout Britain. This culminated in Hugh and Debs doing a live duet of Waiting for the Man, where rare footage recently surfaced on YouTube. It wasn’t just a rumour that Deborah also faxed Lou Reed to tell him about Hugh.

Hugh describes himself as ‘multi talentless’ and was auditioned and chosen for a cameo role in the coolest film of the nineties, Trainspotting – More recently he acted in the Jackie Chan movie ’12 Zodiacs’ as a butler and has also appeared many times on CCTV – Chinese TV in many acting roles.
