For most of us Christmas is supposed to be synonymous with joy. Christmas songs give us the message of “Joy to the World” resounding in shops, pubs, homes and Christmas markets and it certainly is a time for a “Hollly Jolly Christmas.”
The real emotions of the season are a bit more complex. For many people, late December produces a kind of toxic brew of nostalgia and melancholy. It’s difficult not to remember loved ones missing at this time of year. People move, grow apart, pass on – all these hit home hard for some at this time of year. Nearly everyone has too much to do, picking who to go to or who to invite to Christmas dinner and gift-giving can be a minefield. So keep in touch with those who you know or think may be feeling a bit down over the Festive Season.
Finally. To all the local musicians and the ones who come to our town from afar and play for us ‘Thank you for the music and thank you for everything that you do’ Have a very Merry Christmas, a great weekend and thank you all for Keeping Music Live.
