As he has done in previous years the MSP will be accepting food donations at his office on Hairst Street in Renfrew.

Anyone who wishes to make a donation of food in the run up to Christmas can drop them into Mr Mackay’s office at 37 Hairst Street, Renfrew, Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm up until Thursday 20th December.

Mr Mackay will then pass these onto local groups.

Speaking, Mr Mackay said:

“With Christmas approaching the number of people requiring assistance from foodbanks will very sadly increase.

“By opening my office doors to accepting donations, I hope I can in some small way help local foodbanks and make iteasier for those who wish to donate to do so.

“Christmas is a fun and enjoyable time, however, for many living on a financial knife-edge, one small change in circumstances can force them into a crisis resulting in them being unable to afford the basics at this time of year.

“I would therefore encourage anyone who wishes to make a food donation this Christmas to do so. My office will be available to accept donations, which I will pass onto local groups.”
