January 19, 2017Brothers team up for first joint art exhibition
January 20, 2017Europe is one of the most popular continents in the world for people to visit for a holiday, not only for its culture, but also for the weather of the Mediterranean. With so many different countries and cities to choose from when it comes to booking a holiday, it can be difficult to choose which. Of course, as a resident of Paisley, you constitute as an EU citizen, and so it is important that you consider European Health Insurance. Every year, MasterCard puts together a Global Destination Cities Index, which tracks which cities in the world are the most popular with tourists, by tracking souvenir purchase, airline ticket purchases and other travel spending data that they can accumulate over the course of the year. For 2016, there are a number of different cities in Europe, there were just two that took a spot on the list.
Number 2 – London: 19.88 million overnight visitors
Number 2 on the list of top 10 visited places was unsurprisingly, London. London, the capital of the UK, is popular not only for business trips but also as a tourist destination due to the huge number of sightseeing locations to visit, such as the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament, the iconic Big Ben tower clock and much more. With a huge population, and plenty of things to do for a tourist, you can be sure that London is a great holiday destination – except from the relatively bad weather all year round.
Number 3 – Paris: 18.03 million overnight visitors
Number 3 on the list was the city of romance – Paris. Paris is the capital of France and is known as being one of the most cultural hubs on the continent. On top of this, Paris is also a global centre for art, fashion and cuisine, and with a 19th century landscape, it really is a beautiful holiday location. With iconic locations such as Notre-Dame and the Eiffel Tower, alongside its café culture and designer boutiques, you can be certain that Paris is an ideal location for a holiday.
However, RoutePerfect.com recently released data showing the most popular beach destinations in Europe, where the results were ranked according to thousands of bookings made by travellers on the site. With a huge number of varied European destinations, from the Amalfi coast to Croatia and Greece, there were a huge number that made the list.
Number 1 – Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona topped RoutePerfect.com’s list, and one of the reasons is due to the 4.2km of coastline that Barcelona features. With a huge range of beaches including Marbella, Barceloneta, Nova Icaria and Bogatell being some of the most popular, you can be sure that if you’re looking for a combination of city and beach holiday, then Barcelona is it.
Number 2 – Cannes, France
Known mainly for its annual film festival, Cannes is a glamourous destination located on the French Riviera, and it is mainly popular due to its exquisite and gorgeous gold, sandy beaches. Lounging in the sun is a popular activity in Cannes, and with some of the most exquisite locations to do this in, including Zamenkoff and Mace, you can be sure that there is a perfect spot for your holiday.
