David Sneddon is famous for winning Fame Academy with 3.5 million votes. Now of course he is a talented singer songwriter with his own career ahead of him.
At the beginning of the first Fame Academy show on 13th December he sang the Elton John classic Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me. Richard tipped David to win. David said modestly: “It’s about time, Richard. It’s only taken ten weeks.”
Later in the show, David sang Stop Living the Lie – and accompanied himself on the piano. Pam said: “David has been the most prolific songwriter in the academy and he has matured in the last ten weeks.” Carrie said: “Fantastic – using that full rich tone.”
After the break he sang I Don’t Want To Talk About It. Carrie said: “That was a really composed performance.” Richard said: “The future looks great for David Sneddon.” He then added:” I’d like to see him develop his songwriting.”
More than six million votes had come in by this stage. Then David and Sinead sang I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues. Carrie said: “You can’t compare them. They’re totally different.”
By the end of the show over 6.9 million votes were cast. David won with 3.5 million votes. He then sang what will be his new single Stop Living the Lie to end the series.
