Christmas Display Competition Celebrates Creativity, Community and Kindness in Renfrew

Renfrew Community Council has celebrated the success of its Christmas Display Competition, with Jemma Mack named as this year’s winner for a display that brought colour, warmth and festive spirit to her street.

The winning display stood out for its creativity, effort and the joy it brought to neighbours and passers-by. It captured exactly what the competition set out to achieve.

Speaking about the contest, vice-chair of Renfrew Community Council Jan Bunch said:

“This competition was about giving people a reason to step in and do something positive together. The standard this year was incredibly high, and Jemma’s display really lifted the area around it. It showed what happens when people take pride in their street and their community.”

After being awarded the prize, Jemma chose to donate the full amount to Renfrewshire Food Bank. The Community Council said this reflected the values behind the competition itself.

Secretary of Renfrew Community Council, Jane Williamson said:

“The display itself was fantastic, but the decision to donate the prize was a reminder of how people in Renfrew look out for one another. Support like this matters all year round, especially in the months after Christmas when many families face added pressure.”

Chair of Renfrew Community Council, Callum Reid, said:

“Community is not just about events. It is about connection, care and shared effort. Moments like this show how community action can be a real source of support and hope, particularly when times are tough.”
