Options for Days Out in and Around Paisley You Might Not Have Considered

Paisley offers some classic options for days out, but what about the other ideas you might not have heard about? The following are some of the most interesting activities that you might not have tried before now.

Five people stand in front of Tweedie Hall and Linwood Library. The group poses on a wet pavement, wearing casual and semi-formal attire. A blue car and a modern building can be seen in the background under a partly cloudy sky.

Paisley offers some classic options for days out, but what about the other ideas you might not have heard about? The following are some of the most interesting activities that you might not have tried before now.

Discover Fishing Locations

Going fishing near Paisley is easier than you might think. One of the most interesting ways to enjoy this activity is by making the short trip to Loch Lomond, where species like salmon, pike and perch can be found. You’ll need to get hold of a permit before going fishing or angling here. You could hire a boat to head out onto the loch, or explore the many rivers that are dotted around it, like River Dochart and River Teith.

Fishing has become a big part of popular culture, with TV shows such as Hooked and Hooked on Fishing being filmed at Loch Lomond. We can also see a selection of Big Bass casino games listed along with this slot bonus offer. This is a popular theme for online slots, with fish and anglers used as paying symbols. Players can use their free spins on these games by signing up and making their first deposit.

Fruit Picking on a Farm

The thought of harvesting fruits with your own hands is something that is sure to grab your attention. East Yonderton Farm in Renfrew offers you the chance to collect your own strawberries to take home with you. The farm is about a century old, and during the summer bookings are accepted from people who want to pick strawberries, gooseberries or peas. In winter, potatoes and other vegetables are among the options.

You should get in touch with them before leaving home to reserve a space and find out the current price of the product you want to harvest. This farm is open to visitors every day of the week. Pumpkins can be picked from the 11th of October until Halloween this year, at a cost of £1.50 per kg.

A hand gently holds a ripe red strawberry alongside two unripe, white strawberries, with green leaves and stems visible in the background.

Visit Scotland’s Oldest Public Observatory

Coats Observatory was built at the end of the 19th century, with Thomas Coats of the thread manufacturing business of the same name agreeing to meet the costs. The telescope is housed in a copper-plated domed roof in a tower made up of three stories. Stained glass windows depict legendary astronomers, including Galileo and William Herschel, who discovered Uranus as an amateur who had recently started observing the sky with a telescope.

A digital planetarium projector lets us see the night sky above Paisley, even on a cloudy night. At the time of writing, it has been closed since 2021 for refurbishment as part of the project titled Paisley Museum Re-imagined. It’s due to be reopened before the end of 2025, giving another interesting way to spend a few hours in the city.

These are just some of the different days out that Paisley and the surrounding region have to offer. When you’re looking for something different to do, it’s well worth looking beyond the traditional options and trying to find something else that captures your attention.
