What Happens If a Casino App Crashes While You Play Slots or Live Dealer Games

No technology is stable 100% of the time and is prone to running into the odd glitch. Everyone has encountered a drop from an internet connection or a buggy piece of software that crashed at an inopportune moment. Online casino sites are not immune to the odd hiccups here and there, but what happens if gameplay is suddenly interrupted?

If you are in the middle of a slot session on your mobile phone and the app crashes, what happens to the stake you have already put into the machine? What happens if you are cut out suddenly from a live-dealer game?

Situations like the above do happen and it’s why it is highly recommended to find trusted, reputable reliable mobile casinos to cut down on the risk of potential interruptions occurring. The following is what you can expect to encounter.

How Interruptions Happen

The most common cause of mobile casino app interruption is down to connectivity, either the wifi connection or the phone service data. Glitches happen with both and it’s something to be aware of. The other reason why, for example, a slot machine may crash is that something has gone wrong with the programming or the server that it’s being hosted on.

It is worth noting that there are two scenarios where interruptions could happen. One is in the middle of a game where an action by you is required to complete the round. The other is simply in between spins on a slot, where no user action is required to complete the current game.

Playing on App

Mobile casino apps are fantastic for convenience and they can offer a little more stability and better performance than playing through a web browser. It’s recommended to see if there is an app available for the particular online casino you are playing at so that you have quick, secure access not only to games but also your transactions at any time. The following are examples of what would happen either on an app or a mobile website if play is interrupted.

Slots and Video Games

For slots and games like video poker, if your game is interrupted and some input is needed by you, then the game will automatically go into pause mode. That means that once you have refreshed the app, you should be able to pick up straight where you left off.

Most slots save the progress, so at the end of the day, this is likely only to be a minor disturbance. The first thing to do is just to reload back into the game, especially if there is an action required by you to complete it.

In the instance where the game doesn’t need any input from you to finish the round, then all the previous results from whatever had happened before the crash would be logged in your history/transactions.

Live Dealer Casino

If you are in the middle of a live dealer game, say a game of blackjack where a decision is required from you to move the game along or complete it, but you crash, then the game continues without you. The game will simply resume as if you didn’t make a response.

That means once the cards are received, the game will automatically stand or hit on your turn. The game will continue to its conclusion and if you win, then you will be credited based on that result. You will be able to find that in your transaction history.

Whether the deciding automated action will be a stand or a hit, will be down to the rules of the game, which will vary between rooms. So it’s worth having a quick check to see what the action will be if you happen to get disconnected.

Player Protection

There is a level of protection available on casino platforms if things do go awry with a connection. In most cases, you will simply be reconnected and the show will just go on. Again, everything that you do at an online casino is recorded anyway, so you will be able to see every transaction of play that has been performed.

The above is common practice at reputable online casinos, but it’s not written in stone that it will be the same way at all casinos. This is where a little due diligence on the player’s part in finding established, reputable platforms, will go a long way to securing the best online casino experience.
