March 27, 2026Glasgow Airport has today relaunched Campus Watch, its proactive safety and reassurance initiative in partnership with Police Scotland, ahead of what is expected to be one of the busiest holiday periods of the year.
Campus Watch is designed to support a safe, enjoyable and disruption‑free experience for passengers, staff and airline crew.
The initiative reinforces the airport’s long‑standing commitment to tackling unacceptable behaviour, including alcohol misuse, aggression and verbal abuse, in line with the national “Abuse Doesn’t Fly” campaign through Unite the Union.

Although incidents of disruptive behaviour at Glasgow Airport remain extremely rare, the relaunch ensures frontline teams are equipped with enhanced support, clear reporting channels and rapid communication tools to identify and address concerns early.
As part of Campus Watch, airport staff can immediately report individuals displaying signs of disruptive behaviour to the airport’s central control room. Information is then shared quickly across the airport campus via an alert system, enabling early intervention from airport teams or Police Scotland.
Passengers may be spoken to, monitored or refused service at bars and restaurants if behaviour does not meet expected standards.
Kenny Welsh, Head of Security at Glasgow Airport, said: “Glasgow Airport is preparing for a busy Easter holiday period, and our priority is ensuring that everyone travelling through the terminal has a safe and positive experience.
“While the vast majority of our passengers behave responsibly, one incident is one too many. Campus Watch helps us intervene early, support our staff and partners, and make sure disruptive behaviour is dealt with quickly and proportionately.”
Airport Commander, Inspector Bryan McLaren, from Police Scotland’s Border Policing Command, said: “Abuse doesn’t fly – we want all travellers and staff to feel safe. Officers work closely with airport colleagues, including security, airlines, ground agents, and retail.
“Our approach through Campus Watch is not to wait and respond to incidents of disorder, but to proactively prevent them from occurring, through a combination of early intervention, engagement, and patrolling. Police Scotland is here to support you and to ensure your journey through the airport campus is a successful one.”
The relaunch includes refreshed Campus Watch signage across the terminal, increased visibility from Police Scotland, and the distribution of updated briefings and guidance for airport partners. The initiative runs year‑round but is being reinforced ahead of the Easter getaway, which will see tens of thousands of passengers depart from Glasgow Airport over the coming days.
